About the Invert Image Colors tool

Each color channel is replaced by its opposite (255 minus the value): black becomes white, blue becomes yellow, and so on. Transparency is not inverted, so logos on transparent backgrounds stay usable.

Inverting is also handy for viewing scanned film negatives or making a dark screenshot printer-friendly.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I turn a scanned film negative into a positive?

Inverting gives a rough positive. Color negatives also have an orange mask, so the colors may need correcting afterwards; try Auto Fix Photo on the result.

    Does it keep transparency?

Yes. Only the colors are inverted; transparent areas stay transparent.

    Can I undo it?

Inverting an image twice gives back the original colors.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. All processing happens on your device.
