About the Pakistan passport photo maker tool

Pakistan’s online passport application lets you upload your own photo, and the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports publishes clear rules for it. The photo is 45 mm high and 35 mm wide, taken in the last 6 months against a plain white background, and shows a close-up of your full head and shoulders. You face the camera with a neutral expression; your eyes must be clearly visible, without glare from glasses, and there must be no shadows. Files can be up to 5 MB.

The guide also asks for a photo that has not been edited in other software and has not been cut down from a larger picture. So the best photo is one taken for the purpose: stand in front of a plain white wall, face a window for soft light, and have someone photograph you at eye level from about a metre away. This tool then crops it to 35 × 45 mm with your head at a standard size; it does not alter your face. If your wall is not white, you can let the tool replace the background, or keep the original if you want no changes at all.

After the photo is made, the checklist shows what passed and what to look at yourself, such as shadows or closed eyes. The result is a 413 × 531 px JPEG at 300 DPI, which prints at exactly 35 × 45 mm, and the 4 × 6 inch print sheet holds several copies if a form or office asks for prints. Everything happens on your device; your photo is never uploaded.

    Frequently asked questions

What size is a Pakistan passport photo?

35 × 45 mm, which is 413×531 pixels at 300 DPI. We could not confirm an official head size; this tool uses 32–36 mm, crown (top of head) to chin (71%–80% of the height). Background: plain white, with no shadows.

Where do these Pakistani passport photo rules come from?

From “Capturing and Uploading Your Photograph”, the photo guide of the online passport application of Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration & Passports: 45 mm high by 35 mm wide, a plain white background, not more than 6 months old, a close-up of the full head and shoulders, facing forward with a neutral expression, eyes clearly visible without glare, no shadows, and files of up to 5 MB.

The guide says not to edit the photo. Is this tool allowed?

The tool crops and resizes the photo and can replace the background behind you; it does not change your face. If you prefer to change nothing at all, keep “Keep original” as the background and photograph yourself in front of a plain white wall.

How big should my head be?

The guide asks for a close-up of the full head and shoulders but gives no exact size, so the tool uses the common range for 35 × 45 mm passport photos (32–36 mm from chin to crown).

Can I wear glasses in a Pakistan passport photo?

Only if your eyes are clearly visible, with no glare.
